功能描述

氧化还原传感器蛋白。响应细胞内NADPH/NADP(+)水平的变化而发生结构重组和亚细胞重分布。在低NADPH浓度下,该蛋白主要以单体形式存在,并结合精氨基琥珀酸合酶(ASS1),即参与一氧化氮合成的酶。与ASS1的结合削弱其活性并减少一氧化氮的产生,从而阻止细胞凋亡。在正常NADPH浓度下,该蛋白以二聚体形式存在并隐藏ASS1的结合位点。同源二聚体结合一分子NADPH。对NADPH的亲和力高于NADP(+)。结合NADPH是形成稳定二聚体所必需的。 {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17496144, ECO:0000269|PubMed:18263583, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19254724}.

Cytoplasm. Cytoplasm, perinuclear region. Nucleus. Note=Under normal redox growth conditions localizes in the cytoplasm and perinuclear region. Nuclear localization is promoted by increased intracellular nitric oxide and reduced NADPH/NADP(+) ratios.
