功能描述

将酰基从磷脂酰胆碱的sn-1位转移至全反式视黄醇，生成全反式视黄酯 (PubMed:9920938)。视黄酯是维生素A的储存形式 (Probable)。LRAT在视觉中起关键作用 (Probable)。它为异构水解酶提供全反式视黄酯底物，该酶在视网膜色素上皮中将酯加工成11-顺式视黄醇；由于膜结合醇脱氢酶的作用，11-顺式视黄醇被氧化并转化为11-顺式视黄醛，后者是视紫红质和视锥细胞感光色素的发色团 (Probable)。视锥感光细胞的存活和视杆感光细胞正确的形态所必需 (By similarity)。 {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q9JI60, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9920938, ECO:0000305|PubMed:9920938}。

组织特异性

Hepatic stellate cells and endothelial cells (at protein level). Found at high levels in testis and liver, followed by retinal pigment epithelium, small intestine, prostate, pancreas and colon. Low expression observed in brain. In fetal tissues, expressed in retinal pigment epithelium and liver, and barely in the brain.
