Tubulin是微管的主要成分，微管是一种由alpha-和beta-tubulin异二聚体组成的线性原纤维侧向结合形成的圆筒。微管通过GTP-tubulin二聚体添加到微管末端而生长，并在末端形成稳定帽。在帽下方，由于alpha-tubulin的GTPase活性，tubulin二聚体处于GDP结合状态。
组织特异性
Hematopoietic cell-specific. Major isotype in leukocytes, where it represents 50% of all beta-tubulins.
