功能描述

通过促进雄性命运而抑制雌性命运，在生殖细胞的性别分化中起关键作用。通过抑制减数分裂来抑制雌性命运途径，进而促进雄性命运。在CYP26B1减少后，通过阻止STRA8的表达来维持减数分裂的抑制，STRA8是premeiotic DNA复制所必需的。调节CCR4-NOT去腺苷酸化复合物在P-bodies中的定位，并在招募该复合物以触发涉及减数分裂的mRNA降解方面发挥作用。精原干细胞群的维持所必需。对于P-bodies的组装并非必需，但对于维持其正常状态是必需的(By similarity)。 {ECO:0000250}。

组织特异性

Testis and ovary. Expression found in several spermatogenic stages: in cells on the periphery of the tubules which could correspond to spermatogonia, in spermatocytes and in round spermatids (at protein level).
