作为烟酸（也称为niacin）和(D)-beta-hydroxybutyrate的高亲和力受体，并通过G(i)-protein介导的腺苷酸环化酶抑制作用，介导脂联素分泌增加和脂解减少。这种药理作用所需的烟酸剂量远高于正常饮食提供的剂量。介导成熟中性粒细胞中烟酸诱导的细胞凋亡。烟酸激活受体导致cAMP水平降低，这可能影响cAMP依赖性蛋白激酶A的活性及靶蛋白的磷酸化，从而导致中性粒细胞凋亡。置换烟酸结合的效力排序为5-methyl pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid = pyridine-3-acetic acid > acifran > 5-methyl nicotinic acid = acipimox >> nicotinuric acid = nicotinamide。 {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17932499}。
组织特异性
Expression largely restricted to adipose tissue and spleen. Expressed on mature neutrophils but not on immature neutrophils or eosinophils.
