功能描述

鸟嘌呤核苷酸结合蛋白(G蛋白),作为由G蛋白偶联受体(GPCRs)控制的嗅觉信号转导中的转导因子(By similarity)。含有鸟嘌呤核苷酸结合位点,并在活性GTP结合状态和非活性GDP结合状态之间交替(By similarity)。激活的GPCR信号传导促进GDP释放和GTP结合(By similarity)。α亚基具有低GTPase活性,可将结合的GTP转化为GDP,从而终止信号(By similarity)。GDP释放和GTP水解均受多种调节蛋白调节(By similarity)。GNAL/G(olf) α特异性介导GPCRs激活后嗅觉神经上皮和基底神经节内的嗅觉信号转导(By similarity)。通过促进腺苷酸环化酶ADCY3的特异性激活发挥作用,导致信号分子cAMP水平升高(By similarity)。{ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P38406, ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q8CGK7}。

组织特异性

Detected in olfactory neuroepithelium, brain, testis, and to a lower extent in retina, lung alveoli, spleen (PubMed:8243272). Trace amounts where seen in kidney, adrenal gland and liver (PubMed:8243272). Found to be expressed in all the insulinomas examined (PubMed:8243272).
