Contactins在神经系统发育期间介导细胞表面相互作用。参与有髓周围神经中结旁轴-胶质连接的形成，并通过与CNTNAP1的结合参与轴突与髓鞘胶质细胞之间的信号传导。作为NOTCH1的配体参与少突胶质细胞的生成。其与NOTCH1的结合通过释放的notch胞内结构域(NICD)及随后的核转位促进NOTCH1激活。与TNR的相互作用诱导神经元排斥并抑制神经突生长(By similarity)。 {ECO:0000250}。
组织特异性
Strongly expressed in brain and in neuroblastoma and retinoblastoma cell lines. Lower levels of expression in lung, pancreas, kidney and skeletal muscle.
